    The 'Tamang Heritage Trail' is an exciting new trekking route located between Langtang and the Ganesh Himal. A culturally rich region steeped in Tibetan tradition, the local Tamang people are some of the warmest and most welcoming people in Nepal. Within easy access of Kathmandu we ascend the road north towards the Tibetan borderlands and enjoy a relatively gentle circuit trek through picturesque villages, terraced fields, and peaceful valleys where only the most discerning trekkers go. Enroute, we enjoy panoramic mountain views of the nearby peaks and soak in the natural hot springs at Tatopani. Continuing north towards Tibet we soak up the heritage and appreciate a local fort, monastery and exquisite local architecture of the Tamang homes. As we near the end of the trek we enjoy a homestay experience in Briddim and have a full day to relax and discover more about the local traditions of this wonderful region.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu Transfer to the Hotel [1,402m].

A representative from Gurkha Hikers Adventure will be waiting outside the airport according to your flight time that will transfer you to the hotel. Briefing will be done once you have settled in. If you have any queries please do let us know. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath. "B".

After Breakfast we Proceed for sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur city 15 km from Kathmandu, known as city of Devotees and center of medieval art and architecture founded by King Anand Dev in 889 AD, visit Nyatpola temple, the most beautiful temple of Nepal, the 15th century palace of 55 windows, Golden gate and other place of Interest. Lunch Time: 1300hrs-14:00hrs PM: Visit Pashupatinath temple one of the most sacred Hindu shrine in the World. The holy river Bagmati and the burning ghats and also visit one of the oldest and biggest stupa of Boudhanath. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu Drive to Syabubensi [1,461m]. ]. "B". (07-08 Hours drive).

Today we drive towards Syabrubensi from where we will be starting our trek. We will be heading north from the Kathmandu Valley on a bumpy road with fantastic views. We drive pass dhunche. The drive also offers a glimpse of Ganesh Himal while driving along the bank of Trishuli river. Overnight in Tea House. Driving time 8-10 hours.

Day 04: Trek to trek to Gatlang [2,238m]. "B,L,D". Trek (05-06 Hrs).

We begin our trek after the breakfast. We start trekking uphill to reach a view point from where we can see magnificient views of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda Range and Langtang Lirung. After spending some time at the view point we descend to Goljang valley for lunch. We then trek in and out of many villages along with many numerous Buddhist chortens. Overnight in Tea House. Average Trekking time 4-5 hrs.

Day 05: Trek to Tatopani [2,607m]. "B,L,D". Trek (05-06 Hrs).

The first part of today’s trek is a descend to Thangbuchet, a village by the Bhotekoshi river where we can see Chilime Hydropower dam. The trail then goes up by crossing a small bridge followed by extraordinary views of Langtang Range as we go closer to our campsite. We spend a night at Tatopani, which means hot water. Locals believe the water has healing quality. Overnight in Tea House. Average trekking time 5-6 hrs.

Day 06: Trek to Thuman [2,338m] via Nagthali [3,156m]. "B,L,D". Trek (07-08 Hrs).

After breakfast we begin the longest trekking day of our trip. We ascend to a place which was a meditation center for local monks, Nagthali. Nagthali is also the highest pass of this region offering excellent views of Langtang Lirung, Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Ranges. Then we descend towards Thuman village Tibetan influenced Tamang Village. Overnight in Tea House. Average Trekking time 7-8 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Timure, Tibetan borderlands. "B,L,D". Trek (03-04 Hrs).

We start this day on a easy track which goes down towards Timure. We will be trekking on the trail that used to be the old trade route to Tibet. We then move towards Rasuwa Gadhi to the border of Nepal and Tibet. After spending some time we return back to Timure as we are not allowed to camp at Rasuwa Gadhi due to security issues. Overnight in Tea House. Average Trekking Time 3-4 hrs.

Day 08: Trek to Briddim [2,239m]. "B,L,D". Trek (05-06 Hrs).

Walking through rhododendron forests and meadows we head in the direction of Briddim, another Tibetan influenced Tamang village located in the bosom of the Langtang Himal. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of split shake. Here we may meet other trekkers on the Langtang trail. Overnight in Tea House. Average Trekking time 5-6 hrs.

Day 09: Trek to Syabrubesi [1,461m]. "B,L,D". Trek (04-05 Hrs).

This is the last day of our Trek as we finally get back to Syabrubesi. We trek with the Bhote Koshi River and hike through paddy and corn fields. Overnight in Tea House. Average Trekking time 4-5 hrs.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu [1,402 m]. "B,L,". (07-08 Hrs drive).

After breakfast drive back to Kathmandu which will take 7-8 hrs. After arriving in Kathmandu the rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 11: Free day in Kathmandu [1,402m]. "B".

This day is at leisure. You can walk down the streets of Thamel for any last minute souvenir shopping or enjoy good food in some of the best restaurants in town. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 12: Trip ends! Fly back home, taking with you the memory of a life time. "B".

A representative from Adventure Treks Nepal will drop you to the airport according to your flight time. Returning back with memories that last lifetime.“NAMASTE!”.
