Then, after a little ascent from the camp (Lo-Manthang), we reach a glacier valley with views of the old wall city's reddish brown rain shadow zone. From this point on, the Lo appears in an amazing way. If you want to take a different path, you must approach the slope from the other side. After an hour, the trail descends to the village of "DHI" along the mountain ridge. The intervals are filled with time spent pouring downward. You will pass by meadows and agricultural fields along the riverfront as you travel. This is where we have a lunch break and that is DHI Village. Following a trail along the river's left bank, we cross a river after our stop for lunch to reach Yara at (3,838m). In the dry season, the trail continues along the riverbed from this point, but in the monsoon, it climbs hills before making a final difficult ascent to the peak. From atop the Yara hills, it appears as a sand castle in the open air. A type of mineral-like salty dust can be found on the slope in some spots. Today, we travel to Luri Gompa, also known as Kagyukpa cave monastery, which was founded in the thirteenth century. Here, excellently written lama books have been found. The path continues up to Duyung Khola, which originates in Damodar Kund. Hindu tourists also enjoy a lot of popularity at this location. These fossils are gathered by Buddhists and Hindus who believe that they contain the essence of the god Vishnu. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
We depart Yara promptly in the morning through a steep, winding road. The Dhechaeng Khola, which originates at the Damodar Kund, is reached by way of a descent. The path crosses a little stream of ice-melting water, and then we climb for about an hour and a half to DHI town through a twisting path through the desert mountains that connects to the Lo-Pa village of Tangya.
Most of the people living in this delicately disciplined Buddhist community are involved in local organizations, and the lower areas of the city are being cleared of skylines to protect the locals from the gentle breezes coming in from the valley. If you face north from the town, you will notice several sand precipices that are more than a couple hundred years old. The small settlement of Tangbe is located close by. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
Because today's trip is lengthy and we will be traveling farther than usual, we leave early in the morning with our packed lunch. Following the trail to the right, we ascend more stairs before crossing a suspension bridge. The Yak khola is our next stop before ascending a stepped slope to PA, the highest point of the Upper Mustang journey at 4,210m.
It takes around two and a half hours to ascend the trail, which is steep and leaves you covered in sweat, before reaching the peak (4,200m). The Saribung Himal and the Damodar Himal are seen in the distance from here (6,346m). After one and a half hours of walking, the main trail continues along the flat area to the exit; it is now time to locate a lunch location at PA. There are no dwellings left, only ruins, although there are water sources nearby. Since we have only traveled halfway, we won't waste much time.
Our goal for the day is to complete this portion of the trek in another four to five hours of walking. Now that the trail is descending, we must be cautious because it is a difficult path. Accidents can occur as a result of negligence. As the stairs continue to descend, we can hoist ourselves up here to rest. In the meantime, you can look straight down the valley with the mud roof that serves as your daily destination. This is the community that goes by the names Chhuksang or Tetang. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
Today, we keep ascending till we reach a small point from which we can see Muktinath and the Buddhist monasteries with red paint. We navigate the pass, then descend to the stream to cross using a suspension connect. After some time spent climbing, we wander through the cities to Muktinath.
This course is renowned for its fossil stone "Saligrams," which are primarily located between Tetang and Gyu La Pass (4077m). Additionally, it provides a breathtaking 140-degree view of the Tukuche, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna Himalayan ranges. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
Muktinath is one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations for Hindus and is also a key location for Buddhists. We shall go to the Muktinath Temple early in the day. From here, we may enjoy the stunning views of Dhaulagiri Top. There are waterfalls that pour water into the stream that crosses the sanctuary. In addition, there is a Buddhist monastery nearby.
Our route passes through Jharkot, where we can look inside the Jharkot religious community; there is both a Tibetan clinical emphasis that was developed locally and an old post. We continue our journey back to Jomsom. The views of the Kaligandaki valley and Kagbeni town along the way are quite breathtaking.
