Cho La Pass. On the Gokyo path, a difficult ascent over stones and mountain ridges leads to the pass before turning onto an icy road. From here, it will be difficult for us to climb the icy trail without the aid of ropes, gaiters, and crampons. We'll arrive at the top pass after a few hours of an incline-up stroll. Near Cho La Pass, there are no visible human habitations. Only massive mountains, snow-covered slopes, and glacial lakes surround it, creating an impressive scene. On the mountaintop, you can see a lot of vibrant prayer flags waving in the breeze. We take in the scenery for a while before descending the snow-covered trail to Thangnak. We will need to be very cautious on our descent due to the ice, loose rocks, and boulders that make up the landscape. Not to mention that it is frigid outside, so pack some warm clothing. At 15,850 feet above sea level, the settlement of Thangnak is located to the west of Dzongla. The town has a few teahouses where trekkers can stay the night. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
Although the hike to Thangnak was adventurous, ascending Gokyo is even more physically taxing. It is challenging to keep up with the speed because the trail crosses a glacier. The path through the Ngozumpa Glacier and along the constrained valley is steeply ascending. We'll reach the first Gokyo Lake after navigating the difficult trail for another hour or two. Gokyo Lake, like the other five glacial lakes, including Thonak, offers an amazing view since it is encircled by shimmering mountains and granite cliffs. We reach the fifth Gokyo Lake by navigating the difficult terrain up ahead, and we are rewarded with a stunning vista of Mt. Cho Oyu and Gokyo Ri. We'll return to the village after enjoying some time at the lakeside. Gokyo Valley is one of the world's highest communities, at a height of 4,750 meters. The community offers a wide selection of hotels, inns, and guesthouses for lodging. Average trekking time is 06-07 hours.

We now will begin our descent back towards Lukla. After breakfast at the hotel in Gokyo, we will begin our trek towards Machhermo. The trail gradually drops down through the settlement of Dole and offers wonderful views of the mountains. We will slowly enter the tree line with Mt. Cho Oyu towering in the Background. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
The trail descends in altitude from Machhermo until it reaches flat ground. After an easy walk, we reach the suspension bridge and pass a number of villages. We make our way to the valley by strolling through the pine- and rhododendron-filled alpine woodland. As you make your leisurely descent to Namche Bazaar, you'll be treated to a magnificent view of soaring mountains, undulating green hills, and verdant meadows. We will reach Namche, a stunning town, after a short descent among the Tibetan monasteries and Chortens. Average trekking time is 07-08 hours.
From Namchhe Bazzar we unwaveringly ascend down the Dudh Koshi River and cross the suspension bridge after which the trail becomes flat. We walk through dense Rhododendron forests and the beautiful village in Phakding to reach Lukla for overnight stay. If time permits you can visit around the shops in Lukla. Average trekking time is 07-08 hours.
